In Autumn 2024, the talented young creatives of our Make Stuff Club and Make Stuff Club SEN – our weekly after-school club for 9-13 year olds at the Blackhorse Workshop – collaborated with our member Riya Panchal of MESEME.

In a special workshop, led by Riya, these budding creatives collaborated with Meseme studio to design and illustrate five limited edition, one-of-a-kind lampshades based on their everyday observations and patterns. These limited edition lamps are being sold here, with a portion of the proceeds shared with the Make Stuff Club to support our mission.

The workshop provided the group a safe space to unwind and explore their creativity and gain valuable insights into the world of design and making. These limited edition collaboration celebrates creativity, inclusivity, and the power of imagination. The lampshades complement the delicate yet playful design of our established MANTIS Table Lamp, which marries organic elegance and contemporary design. The lamp’s gentle sway when touched adds a touch of whimsy, echoing the stealthy movements of its namesake.

The fixture boasts a sustainably-made paper from G.F Smith, striking both visually and textually, it also offers surprising versatility. When held to the light, the paper takes on a warm sheen.
