About the Course
Over this Sunday course, you will be introduced to the ancient art of Blacksmithing. You will be guided through the art of forging by blacksmith Stephen Lock.
Under his guidance, you will learn how to transform a piece of steel bar into a personalised bottle opener and several other objects, that can be both functional and decorative, using traditional techniques. This will involve learning tapering, flattening, hot punching, drifting a hole, twisting and hot stamping. After perfecting your creation, you will then learn how to seal the piece using hot wax
.
This course promises to be an exciting and informative learning experience for anyone who wants to try their hand at hot forge work, and get stuck in with a hammer on the anvil!
This course includes a forge induction. After completion, you will be able to book the forge to work on your personal blacksmithing projects.
Please be aware that blacksmithing is physically demanding and this course will require you to use heavy equipment – we advise you are fit and well before booking the course.
After the course
After completion, you will be able to book the forge to work on your personal blacksmithing projects. Public Liability Insurance is required.
If you would like some further support and guidance from a Tutor, before booking the forge independently, why not come to our monthly Blacksmithing Evening (usually first Tuesday of the month).
Public Liability Insurance
When making a bench booking at Blackhorse Workshop you must ensure you are covered by Public Liability Insurance (PLI).
