About the Course

An in-depth two days of woodturning. 

At the end of this course, even without any previous experience, you will get to take home a beautiful assortment of finished hardwood objects.  

Day 1

You will learn the structure and safe use of the lathes with a variety of turning tools. You will practice control by spindle turning with a freestyle exercise followed by a more traditional, technical object to turn.  

Day 2

You will learn about materials, how to prepare and mount them, how to realise your own designs and apply finishes, and turning hardwood bowls through faceplate turning.

The weekend affords you time to go at your own pace whilst being introduced to the joys of woodturning. You will be fully inducted into our wood lathes and gain the confidence to take on your own future projects.  

ACCESSIBILITY

Please note at this time Studio 2 has no step-free access and has three flights of stairs up to the Workshop Room.

Please dress appropriately for metalwork, no trainers or shorts, we recommend sturdy shoes/boots and jeans or similar. We also recommend sturdy shoes/boots to be worn for woodwork.
