Saym Hussain is a London-based designer from Glasgow, Scotland, whose work moves between research and making, examining how objects operate as both products of their social, political, cultural and historical contexts, and as active participants in shaping those contexts in return. He is interested in the conditions that produce our material realities, how those conditions become materialised as everyday objects, and how design might reconstruct those relationships through the object itself. His work centres on the object as a means to disrupt these relationships, at the same time using moving image, photography, and public engagement as methods of expanding these dialogues.
